My Story

Hello & Welcome!

Hey, I’m Julia Trehane. I’m a specialist anorexia recovery coach.
I want you to know that full recovery from anorexia, living in food freedom, and truly loving yourself is absolutely possible.
For over four decades, I was trapped in the relentless torment of anorexia, orthorexia and exercise addiction. I lived in constant anxiety, surrounded by fear. My mind was a whirlwind of thoughts—obsessing over food, endless to-do lists, and countless reasons why I wasn’t good enough. My inner critic was a total bitch, a voice that never missed an opportunity to tear me down. My world felt like a restrictive hell, where every day was a battle.
But my recovery journey wasn’t just about surviving. It was about peeling back the layers, discovering who I really was, and learning to fully understand, accept, and eventually, truly love the woman I found beneath all those struggles. This journey has been both my greatest challenge and my most profound teacher. From it, I’ve learned resilience, the importance of self-compassion, and the undeniable strength that lies in vulnerability.
Today, my life is worlds away from where it used to be. I eat whatever I want, free from fear or guilt. I’ve learned to embrace my body—no matter its size—knowing that my worth isn’t measured by numbers on a scale. I’m finally at peace with who I am. I genuinely love and care for myself, and the happiness I feel now is a far cry from the life I once lived.

This transformation compelled me to share this incredible recovered life with others. I turned my pain into my purpose. As an Anorexia Recovery and Self-Love Coach, I’ve dedicated my life to guiding others on their own journeys—helping them uncover, accept, and truly love the person underneath the eating disorder.
I believe that recovery is possible for everyone. When you combine curiosity, self-awareness, compassion, and self-love, you can create a life of freedom. My mission is to help as many people as possible who are struggling to recover from anorexia make this a reality.
With a background as a mental health nurse, I’m no stranger to helping those struggling with mental illness. I’ve trained in CBT for Eating Disorders, transformational and spiritual life coaching, and I’ve gained extensive knowledge in various healing modalities like NLP and EMDR. But most importantly, I bring my own lived experience to our work together. I’ve been there, and I understand. And as I guide each of my clients, I also learn from them—because everyone’s journey is unique.

A few things about me:
I have two dogs, Evie and Daisy, who you might hear in the background on my podcasts.
I love walking in nature, especially by a river.
Curling up with a great book—preferably one with witches or vampires in it—is one of my favourite things to do.
My home is filled with plants and crystals, because they bring me joy.
Nowadays, when I find something that scares me, I’m excited because I know it’s a chance to grow and evolve.
I’m here to help YOU on your journey, and I’m proof that it’s possible to come out the other side stronger, happier, and filled with self-love.

How can i help?

I get it, coaching isn’t for everyone, but I want to help as many people as I can, so please let me know if there’s anything I can do.
